July newsletter

Earlier this month, Hurricane Beryl struck Houston, and I know many of you were significantly affected by the storm. I—and all of St. Luke’s—hope that you stayed safe throughout.

As hurricane season continues, I want to share a reminder about resources for hurricane and emergency preparedness to help keep you and our community safe before, during, and after severe weather. I encourage you to share these with your networks.

As for news from St. Luke’s, we have several wins to celebrate and stories to highlight in this newsletter.

May newsletter

During National Nurses Week, and every week, we are grateful for the more than 4,000 nurses who go above and beyond to serve our communities at St. Luke’s Health. Our hospitals and clinics are better because of these people who are truly passionate about what they do. In fact, several of our exceptional nurses were recognized this month in the Houston Chronicle's Salute to Nurses Program.

We are proud of the entire clinical team who contribute to St. Luke’s Health’s ability to provide high-quality care and humankindness to our communities.

March newsletter

The first quarter of 2024 is almost over, and before we turn the calendar to April 1, I’d like you to join me in thinking about the wonderful physicians you and your family have encountered over the years. National Doctors' Day is celebrated each year on March 30, but I believe that the work that they do, day in and day out, deserves recognition throughout the year. We have more than 380 employed and 1,600 clinically aligned network providers, and more than 21,000 employees, providers, and interns associated with St. Luke’s Health, each providing and contributing to outstanding patient care. Below, you’ll find some recent stories of their compassionate and exceptional care.

January newsletter

With the thermostat in Houston acting like a pendulum, where any given day’s weather could swing between frigid lows or balmy highs, our community is facing the annual onslaught of winter health concerns—the common cold, flu, COVID-19 and many other respiratory diseases.

It may be summer, but for many of us it is the start of a new year, fiscally speaking. A tremendous amount of planning has already taken place for FY2024 budgets, and now the task begins of carefully stewarding those resources over the coming months.
