Thanks to a generous donation, the Adelaide R. Thorpe scholarship is now available to students in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson. The scholarship, which amounts to $10,000 over two academic years, can be used for expenses such as tuition, fees, and textbooks. It serves as an opportunity to break down financial barriers and allow the next generation of passionate and qualified nurses to enter the field.
The scholarship is available to full-time Brazosport College students that have been accepted to the ADN program and meet the following criteria:
They are able to maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA while enrolled in the program.
They agree to submit a final grade report for review to ensure that they are making academic progress.
They conduct themselves in accordance with the CommonSpirit Health mission, vision, and values.
They commit to working for St. Luke’s Health – Brazosport Hospital for a minimum of two years upon graduation.
As part of the application process, applicants must answer the following questions in 200 words or less:
Why do you want to pursue a career in nursing?
Why are you applying for this scholarship?
What is your vision in using your nursing degree in the next five years?
Describe your current and past community involvement.
