In order to maintain the health of our delivering families as well as our visitors, we are temporarily postponing all classes and support groups offered at our Family Birthing Center. If you have already registered for one, a member of our team will reach out shortly with further details.
The birth of your baby is one of the most exciting events in your life. It is a moment you will cherish and remember always. Whether this is your first or fifth, at St Luke’s Health–Sugar Land Hospital, we offer a variety of classes to help prepare you for childbirth and help you feel more comfortable taking care of yourself and your new baby.

Prepared Childbirth Class- Free Virtual Class
This class will help you prepare for your labor and delivery here at St. Luke's Health–Sugar Land Hospital. You will learn about comfort measures, relaxation and breathing techniques, anesthesia options to manage the discomforts of labor, and the physical and emotional changes of pregnancy, labor, and birth. Information on Cesarean birth and hospital procedures will be presented also. These classes occur on the first 3 Tuesdays of each month. We encourage a support person to attend with the expectant mom.
Cost: There is no cost for this online virtual class. When you register, only ONE person’s information is needed. Upon registration you will receive an email from the instructor with a link to the class.
When to attend: Recommended about 10 - 14 weeks before your due date.
Length of class: Three 2 hour sessions, with a 10 minute break in each class.
Breastfeeding Free Virtual Class
This class will help you prepare for successful breastfeeding here at St. Luke's Health–Sugar Land Hospital. You will learn about:
- how breastfeeding works
- latch and positioning
- when to feed your baby
- how to know your baby is getting enough milk
- breast care and pumping
- general breastfeeding management
These classes occur on the 4th Tuesday evening each month. We encourage a support person to attend with the expectant mom.
Cost: There is no charge for this virtual online class. When you register, only ONE person’s information is needed. Upon registration, you will receive an email from the instructor with a link for the class.
When to attend: Recommended about 10 - 14 weeks before your due date.
Length of class: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.
Virtual Breastfeeding Support Group
Establishing breastfeeding can be stressful, even for experienced mothers. We offer a virtual support group meeting on the Zoom platform for breastfeeding mothers to spend time with our Lactation Consultant, as well as learn from each other and support each other through this journey with our babies. We will meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 2-3 pm.
Cost: There is no cost for this online virtual class. When you register, only ONE person’s information is needed. Upon registration, you will receive an email from the instructor with a link to the class.
When to attend: After your birth, up to 1 year
Length of class: 1 hour
