Preparing for Your Visit
At St. Luke's Health-Lakeside Hospital, we strive to make your admissions process as seamless as possible. Your doctor will determine information about your type of stay (inpatient or outpatient); however, you must register as a patient at St. Luke's Health-Lakeside Hospital before you begin outpatient services or come in for inpatient services.
Admissions and registration at Lakeside Hospital
Pre-registration
Before you are admitted or begin outpatient services, we contact you to collect information about you and your insurance coverage. We will discuss the estimated portion of your bill that will be your responsibility. If you have not been contacted within two days of your procedure, please call Patient Access Services at (936) 266-9000.
Insurance pre-certification
Some insurance companies require pre-certification or authorization, including for an emergency admission, 24 hours prior to hospital services. Special instructions are listed on your insurance card. You may be required to contact the company before you're admitted to the hospital and before you register for any other hospital services.
Check your insurance card to determine your pre-authorization requirements. If you are unclear about this or if pre-certification is required, you or a family member should call the insurance company as soon as possible.
Pre-admission process and testing
The pre-admission process includes setting up your account, including insurance information; a nursing interview and assessment; and any required testing, such as lab services and EKG. If you are having a procedure that requires anesthesia, further tests may be required. Our staff will contact you to schedule an appointment or you can call us if that is more convenient.
On the day of your pre-admission visit, please come to the main registration area of the hospital to complete all your paperwork and be directed to pre-admission testing.
For more information about pre-admission and testing, please call (936) 266-9001.
