Cardiac Rehabilitation Center Celebrates its Graduates

Posted in:

St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Cardiac Rehabilitation recently celebrated three successful years of restoring cardiovascular patients to their optimal health.

Cardiac rehabilitation provides East Texans with specifically designed rehabilitation that significantly improves heart health. The Lufkin center opened in March 2014. Since that time, more than 1,000 patients have gone through the program with a total of 438  graduates. Many of those graduates were recognized on Thursday, September 28 for their dedication to the program.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is the only one in deep East Texas to be accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The 6-12 week program promotes cardiovascular health and individual well-being through research-centered, patient-specific care. The exercise plan, nutritional assessment and lifestyle coach are all specially tailored to each individual.

“Research indicates that patients who undergo cardiac rehabilitation have 30-40% reduction in heart attacks, strokes, and hospital admissions” said Ravinder Bachireddy M.D., FACC, Cardiac Rehabilitation Medical Director and co-founder of the Heart Institute of East Texas. “Exercise can provide great benefits for those with cardiovascular conditions and it improves their quality of life.”

The team, led by Dr. Bachireddy, consists of a Registered Nurse, a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, and other healthcare professionals. . They use a multidisciplinary approach to meet the needs of each patient, including continuous heart and hemodynamic monitoring to ensure healthy progression and cardiovascular wellness.
