St. Luke’s Health-Memorial San Augustine Named 2018 Top Performing Rural Hospital

Each year, hospitals from across the nation that embody the highest standards of excellence are presented with a prestigious award from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit leader and advocate in hospital transparency. It was recently announced that St. Luke’s Health-Memorial San Augustine received the organization’s 2018 Top Performing Rural Hospital Award – one of only two rural hospitals in the state of Texas and one of 17 in the nation to achieve this award.

The Leapfrog Hospital Survey uses 28 national performance measures to evaluate individual facilities, such as leadership policies and practices, preventing infections, and the use of technology to ensure safer care and the prevention of errors. Hospitals must also satisfy requirements for overall excellence and perform at or better than the national rate for many of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards.

Ashley London, Director of Hospital Operations of St. Luke’s Health-Memorial San Augustine, attended the Leapfrog’s Annual Awards Dinner and Ceremony on December 4 in Washington D.C. to accept the award on the hospital’s behalf.
