St. Luke’s Health Memorial Volunteers Donate to Polk Education Center
Maintaining a healthy weight is important to all of us, but it is even more significant for those patients living with diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. Thanks to the generosity of the Memorial Volunteer Auxiliary, The Polk Education Center has a new digital scale that will help nurse educators obtain a more accurate reading for patients who weigh more than 350 pounds. The new scale will also be used in community health screenings and industry wellness events. The Volunteer Auxiliary’s gift to the center was made possible through gift shop, jewelry and scrub sales throughout the year. Presenting the new scale to the Polk Education Center are Evelyn Blattner, Volunteer and Jean Mizell, Volunteer President. Accepting on behalf of the Polk Education Center are Ethel Ballenger, RD, CDE, Educator and Gloriella Chong, LVN, Client Liaison. The Polk Education Center offers specialized education on a variety of topics including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, weight loss, kidney disease, hypertension and more.
