Dr. Roby discusses medication complications with long term care representatives

Nearly 20 long term care centers from the East Texas area were represented at Memorial Medical Center-Lufkin’s quarterly long term outreach meeting on June 26. Memorial works closely with long term care centers in East Texas when it comes to quality patient care, and these quarterly meetings are just one example of how the hospital strives to enhance communication between the entities.

Rich Roby, MD, with Angelina Internal Medicine, was the featured speaker at the meeting. Dr. Roby is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician, specializing in the prevention and treatment of adult diseases. At the meeting, Dr. Roby discussed complications arising from multiple medications and how they may interact and cause complications in the geriatric population, including neuroleptic malignant syndrome and serotonin syndrome.
