Experienced Surgeon Joins Medical Staff

Memorial Medical Center—Lufkin welcomes Alan S. Bassin, M.D., F.A.C.S. to its medical staff.  Performing surgical procedures for over a decade, Dr. Bassin brings a strong background of general and laparoscopic surgical experience to East Texas.  As a board certified surgeon, Dr. Bassin not only performed surgeries in the operating suite, but also shared his knowledge and experience with medical students at Nova Southeastern University’s Department of Surgery as an Associate Clinical Professor.

Dr. Bassin earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine which is followed by a residency in General Surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Bassin’s medical education started at Vanderbilt University with an undergraduate degree in psychology. 

During Dr. Bassin’s recent medical practice in Florida, he held numerous medical staff positions such as Chief of Surgery and Chairman of the Credentials and Qualifications Committee.  Among many of his qualifications that are beneficial to local patients, Dr. Bassin is bilingual speaking both English and medical Spanish.
