Memorial Health System of East Texas Honored at Texas Workforce Conference
AUSTIN – Memorial Health System of East Texas is being recognized as one of the top employers in the state of Texas. That’s according to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and the Deep East Texas Workforce Solutions who recently named Memorial as the recipient of the distinguished Employer Award of Excellence.
The award honors employers that are actively involved with their local workforce board and have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community. Memorial is one of only 28 companies in Texas to receive this honor from the Texas Workforce Commission.
“Congratulations to Memorial Health System of East Texas for its support of the region’s local workforce and forging an ongoing partnership with WorkForce Solutions Deep East Texas,” said Ronny Congleton, TWC Commissioner Representing Labor. “These efforts exemplify how a workforce benefits when an outstanding employer and its local workforce board work together as a team.”
Memorial’s employee training programs have reduced turnover, increased retention and skill levels, and helped attract and develop the area’s health care workforce. The facility partners with businesses to provide health education through diabetes and cancer education centers, and operates an occupational health clinic for employees injured at work. Memorial works with Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas to find applicants through job fairs and referrals, and teams with organizations to foster health education. The health system also partners with Angelina College and Stephen F. Austin University to teach health care courses and increase nursing graduate hires.
“We are excited to be recognized as an employer of choice in the East Texas area,” said Bryant Krenek, Chief Executive Officer and President of Memorial Health System of East Texas. “Our employees are our most important asset, and we take great pride in providing a culture where employees are valued and appreciated. We believe that excellence in patient care begins with employees who are given the appropriate resources and guidance to excel in their jobs. After all, our mission is the finest people providing the finest service every customer, everytime.”WorkForce Solutions Deep East Texas is one of 28 local workforce boards located throughout the state. The board serves Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity and Tyler counties. The primary goal of TWC and the workforce boards is to respond to the needs of Texas’ employers through locally designed, market-driven workforce development initiatives and services. All employers, workers and job seekers are eligible to take advantage of these services.
