Participants Needed for Power of Pink! Video

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  Memorial Health System of East Texas is hoping that a community wide video project will do just that and motivate women and men to understand the importance of early detection of all types of cancer.  As part of the annual Power of Pink! Luncheon held in October, Memorial is inviting the community to participate in a community wide video that will feature East Texans, who have battled cancer, along with their special caregivers.   

According to Memorial video producer, Lindsey Mott, participants will need to simply come to one of the video locations in Lufkin and be videotaped, either with loved ones holding homemade signs of inspiration or a photo of a loved one who has lost their battle with cancer.  “The special video project will showcase couples or groups consisting of a person or people and the cancer patient they supported just sitting or standing.  For example, a husband will be standing with his wife or a family with their loved one who is a cancer survivor or a daughter with a photo of a parent who lost their battle with cancer.  Photos will need to be at least an 8x10 photo,” said Ms. Mott.  “Participants are also encouraged to make signs, no smaller than 8.5x11, to show their love and/or support (i.e. I Miss My Dad, My Best Friend is a Breast Cancer Survivor, Friends Don’t Let Friends Fight Cancer Alone, etc.).  The survivor in the group is also encouraged to hold a sign telling what kind of cancer they battled.”

Video shoots will take place on the following dates and locations
Tuesday, September 6, 8:30 am – Noon at Memorial Health System of East Texas
Wednesday, September 7, 8:30 am – Noon at Angelina County Airport
Wednesday, September 7, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm at Downtown Lufkin
Saturday, September 10, 10 am – Noon at St. Cyprian’s Garden
Saturday, September 10, 1 pm – 3 pm at Grace Dunn Richardson Park

Each participant will need to prepare for their session to take at least 10 minutes.
