Power of Pink Tickets on Sale August 18 at Victoria’s Secret

Community members will get the chance to purchase tickets to Lufkin’s “Best Annual Community Event,” August 18.  Power of Pink! tickets will be available for purchase outside Victoria’s Secret in the Lufkin Mall, August 18, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., or until sold out.  Tickets can be purchased for $25 each or a table reserved with a $500 table sponsorship.

 This will be the 20th Anniversary of the Jan Moore Memorial Luncheon now known as the Power of Pink!  This educational forum, which raises awareness about women and breast cancer, will be held October 18, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin.

 This year’s event will feature Karyn Ruth White.  Ms. White has been entertaining and motivating people in some form or fashion for over 20 years.  As a keynote presenter and comedian, she has over a decade of expertise in the field of stress-reduction through humor.  Before that, she performed for over 15 years as a professional stand-up comedian.  Karyn Ruth is a unique blend of motivator, business consultant, philosopher, life-skills coach and stand-up comedian.  Her programs use humor to grab the attention of the audience and give them practical, real-life tools for being more productive and fulfilled.

 “What started a group of ladies coming together to remember their friend and raise awareness of the disease that took her life has grown into so much more,” said Lindsey Mott, Community Relations Specialist at Memorial Health System of East Texas and Power of Pink! Coordinator.  “This event has become a chance to not only educate our community but to celebrate those who are fighting and who have fought cancer together.”

 A special video is being produced for the event this year that will showcase community members celebrating being “Undefeated” by cancer.  Groups are needed for the video.  “We are asking members of the community to get a group together whether it is family, friends, co-workers, we are not picky!  We would like them to make a short dance routine that can be as simple or as intricate as they want for our video,” said Ms. Mott.  If you are interested in participating in the video, contact Lindsey Mott at 936-639-7613 or [email protected].

 The event will also host the 4th Annual Art Bra Exhibit.  Memorial Health System of East Texas, Abeldt’s Gaslight Pharmacy, and Victoria’s Secret have teamed up to present The Art Bra Contest in conjunction with Power of Pink!  Victoria’s Secret is donating bras that members from the community will be able to pick up at designated locations beginning in September and decorate.  The decorated bras will be judged and displayed at Power of Pink!  “The Art Bra contest has added such a fun aspect to the Power of Pink! event,”  commented Ms. Mott.  “This year we asked Victoria’s Secret to partner with us knowing what a ‘great fit’ it would be!”  Decorated bras entered in the contest are judged by celebrity judges as well as online by the community to award Top Bra and People’s Choice.

 With the continued support of sponsors such as First Bank and Trust East Texas, The Main Event, Kwik Kopy Printing, Consolidated Communications, East Texas Hematology and Oncology Clinic, and many more, the Power of Pink! continues to reach women in the community spreading the message of hope and encouragement.  This year over 750 women are expected to attend.
