2025 CommonSpirit Community Health Improvement Grant Program
Philanthropic grants to provide critical assistance delivering services addressing health needs
HOUSTON, TX (June 19, 2024) – St. Luke’s Health is inviting local non-profit organizations to consider applying for grants that support the delivery of services vital to improving health and well-being, and improving health equity. The application period opened June 17 and runs through August 16, 2024. Successful applicants will be announced in November for projects conducted between March 2025 and February 2026.
This opportunity is part of the CommonSpirit Health Community Health Improvement Grants program. St. Luke’s Health is part of CommonSpirit Health, which was created in 2019 when Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health came together to create a national health system.
The grant program is focused specifically on significant needs identified in St. Luke’s most recent community health needs assessment. The hospital conducts a need assessment every three years to help it and community partners identify and address priority health and social needs faced by residents and the region. St. Luke’s is accepting proposals that address access to care, chronic disease, mental health and substance abuse, preventive practices, and violence and injury/unintentional injury.
Michael Bilton, System Senior Director for Community Health and Community Benefit at CommonSpirit, says “we strive to be intentional and strategic in our community outreach, partnerships and philanthropic giving. It is important for our hospitals to use their resources in ways that help improve high priority, locally-relevant health issues. These grants are one example of that.” Bilton also commented on the value of working with community organizations, stating “the grant program reflects a commitment to partnering with the communities we serve to improve community health. Hospitals and health care are part of the solution, but it takes a diversity of programs and services to strengthen our overall health.”
Applications for grants of greater than $20,000 must include collaborating partner organizations helping to deliver services, while partners are encouraged, but not required for smaller grants.
