THE WOODLANDS, TX (August 15, 2024) - St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands Hospital has received two Get With The Guidelines® – Coronary Artery Disease achievement awards from the American Heart Association for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.
Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a stroke or heart attack, and heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Studies show patients can recover better when providers consistently follow treatment guidelines.
St. Luke’s-The Woodlands received these achievement awards:
STEMI Receiving Center Gold Plus with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll: Recognizes commitment to offering rapid, research-based care to people experiencing a specific type of heart attack known as an ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), known to be more severe and dangerous than other types of heart attacks. Recognition as a STEMI Receiving Center is designed to showcase hospitals that provide 24/7 support for STEMI. These important facilities coordinate with a network of referring hospitals and emergency medical services to provide guideline-directed STEMI and NSTEMI care.
NSTEMI Gold with Target: Type 2 Diabetes: Recognizes commitment to offering rapid, research-based care to people experiencing a specific type of heart attack known as a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). The NSTEMI Center award is earned by hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to treating patients according to the most up-to-date research-based guidelines for NSTEMI care as outlined by the American Heart Association.
“Our expert teams are committed to delivering the best care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely and proper care for heart attacks,” said Jim Parisi, president of St. Luke’s-The Woodlands. “The Get with the Guidelines programs make it easier to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis, which helps us ensure more people in North Houston experience longer, healthier lives.”
