Volunteer Auxiliary Recognized During National Volunteer Week
It is all about helping others and making the community a better place. The members of Volunteer Auxiliary were recently recognized for their dedication to Memorial Medical Center – Livingston (MMC-L) during National Volunteer Week.
The Memorial Medical Center – Livingston Volunteer Auxiliary held its annual installation banquet at Rolling Hills restaurant where David LeMonte, Administrator MMC-L, and Michelle Tompkins, Director of Health Information Management and Guest Services MMC-L, were present to thank and give a gift to the Volunteers for their service to Memorial.
Officers for the 2009-2010 year also were elected and installed during the banquet. The officers are Gracie Hooper, President; Leah Vogely, President Elect; Donna Langston, Secretary; and Myrle McLaurin, Treasurer.
The Volunteer Auxiliary at Memorial Medical Center – Livingston helps the hospital in many different ways. The Volunteers run and staff the gift shop and the hospital information desk. Volunteers provide patient services, which include distributing handmade patient favors and carting beverages and magazines to patients’ rooms. The Volunteer Auxiliary also maintains the hospital’s Lending Library, which makes paperback books and magazines available to patients and visitors.
Proceeds raised by the volunteers through the hospital gift shop and other fundraisers throughout the year are used to fund scholarships for local college students pursuing health related careers and to assist with purchasing various equipment for the hospital.
