Advanced Heart Failure Clinic and Transplant Cardiology
Established in 1982, the heart transplant program at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is one of the most experienced programs in the world. Dr. Denton Cooley and his team performed the first successful heart transplant in the U.S.A. in 1968 at this hospital, and later implanted the first artificial heart.
Our team of specialized heart failure cardiologists and nurses are here to provide you with expert and comprehensive care across the heart failure disease spectrum. We work collaboratively to integrate all aspects of care, from medication optimization and symptom management to education on disease processes, nutrition, and physical activity.
As one of the nation's most renowned academic institutions, we are dedicated to advancing heart failure treatment through innovation and research. Our clinical trials guide the future of advanced heart failure care, ensuring that our patients receive the most effective treatments available.
If you are facing end-stage heart disease, our Heart Transplant Program offers renewed hope. As part of the Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center Transplant Institute, we provide combined heart-kidney, heart-liver, and heart-lung transplants to eligible patients with end-stage heart failure and multisystem organ involvement.
At the Advanced Heart Failure, LVAD, and Heart Transplant Program, our goal is to optimize outcomes and improve your heart health. Contact us today to schedule a consultation with one of our specialists and learn more about the comprehensive care we provide.
