Stroke Symptoms & Next Steps
Every 40 seconds, someone has a stroke, a “brain attack” that stops the flow of blood in the brain. Timely medical care is essential. Comprehensive Stroke Center status identifies hospitals that meet standards for treating the most complex stroke cases.
St. Luke’s Health Comprehensive Stroke Centers are committed to delivering safe, high-quality stroke care based on evidence-based standards and a multidisciplinary approach to treating and rehabilitating stroke patients.
Suspect a Stroke? Think F.A.S.T.
Dedicated to community health and education, we remind community members to think F.A.S.T. when you suspect a stroke.
- F – Face drooping on one side, or uneven smile
- A – Arm weak or numb
- S – Speech slurred or hard to understand
- T – Time to call 911 AND check the time of the first symptoms
Time lost is brain lost. Get the stroke victim to a Comprehensive Stroke Center immediately.
