Pre-Admission Process

You may pre-register at the admissions department located within the hospital or you can complete the process over the telephone. Please note that you will need to supply the following during the pre-admission process:

  • Insurance information (If patient is covered under someone else's insurance, the clerk will need that person's name, date of birth, social security number and employer's information.)
  • Drivers License or Photo ID
  • Social Security Card or Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Phone Number
  • Mailing Address

Please schedule a pre-admission appointment with the hospital. We will need to obtain any needed blood tests, EKG’s and/or X-rays. Additionally, you will meet with a nurse regarding your health history, surgical permit and pre-op and post-op education. You also may be asked to speak to an Anesthesiologist.
During this time you will need the following:

  • Physician Orders for your Surgery or Procedure
  • A List of All Current Medications
  • A List of Allergies/Medical Conditions
  • A Copy of Any Advanced Directives or Power of Attorney

 

Day of Surgery

When ready, you will be taken to your designated unit for your surgery or procedure. Most IV therapies and outpatient procedures are performed in Day Surgery. Family members will be directed to the Surgery waiting room where they will wait until your surgery/procedure is completed. At that time, they will have the opportunity to speak to your surgeon or doctor for an update on your condition.

  • Enter through the main lobby of the hospital.
  • Report to the front desk at your given time.
  • When needed, you will be escorted back to the Day Surgery Unit.
  • Wear loose comfortable clothing and be sure to bring someone to drive you home after your surgery or procedure.
  • You will be prepped and prepared for your surgery/procedure.

 

Post Surgery

The final step of your journey will depend on what type of surgery/procedure you had performed. You will be taken to one of the following locations:

  • Recovery Room
  • Admitted to a hospital floor
  • Back to Day Surgery
  • Discharged and sent home for recovery

St. Luke's Health-Memorial Livingston serves tasty and well-balanced meals daily to its inpatient guests. Additionally, the hospital offers its visitors a daily steam table complete with hot meats and vegetables, a salad bar with fresh fruits, and grilled items, such as hamburgers and specialty baskets.

Whether you're on a regular diet or one with restrictions, your catering associate will meet with you before each meal to discuss the menu options available for your particular diet and take your order. We offer a hot and cold entree special each day in addition to always available selections. Special diets ordered by your doctor may not have the same taste you're accustomed to, and medication you're taking may also affect your taste buds.
